Shop Policies and Safety
Safety is your most important consideration and responsibility at all times
- Leave machines/tools clean and tidy for next person
- Only the operator controls machine/work being fed
- Use push sticks as demonstrated
- All guards/safety devices are to be used at all times
- Keep hands away from blades/cutters a min. of 6"
- Always wear face shield or goggles while near machines
- Respect tools/machines and others at all times in the shop
- Do not crowd or distract someone while they are using a machine
- Ask permission before operating any machine. Do not use a machine until you have attended the demo and passed the safety test for it.
- If machine doesn’t perform correctly shut it off and report it to the Instructor
- The shop is an industrial environment be alert and serious
- No horseplay
- Remove all jewelry, tie back long hair, roll up sleeves, and tuck in loose clothing.
- Report all accidents to the instructor
- Use the red power off button in emergency only to avoid some one else’s potential accident
- All students deserve respect regardless of age, gender, race, lifestyle or Background.
- Swearing, name calling and slurs will not be tolerated
- All students will participate in clean up
- Use Materials Wisely
