Safety and the Bandsaw

  1. You may use the bandsaw after asking permission if you have attended the demonstration and passed the safety test.
  2. Set the upper guide to ¼ " above the wood to be cut.
  3. Be careful not to twist the blade on a sharp turn. Use relief cuts if needed.
  4. Do not back out of a cut while the blade is moving it might pull the blade off its tracking.
  5. Always use a piece of scrap, or a push stick to clear away debris.
  6. Always keep hands 6" from blade. Use a wooden clamp for small pieces.
  7. The danger zone is to the right of the machine. If the blade breaks this is where it will go.
  8. Always make sure the blade has stopped before leaving the machine.
